The Weather in Denmark
Most of the images I’ve shared so far mostly included beautiful blue skies with bright white clouds but the first three days of the ride actually included a lot of cold temperatures, wind and rain. The image above was shot by Jonas Tana.

130 km to Berlin!
Toughest day was definitely today. People are getting tired, going through areas with mosquitoes and ticks, can’t eat vegetables and so I’m left with lots of bread, and sun is heating things up. Several people couldnt finish the ride and had to be picked up and shuttled to the hostel tonight. If there was ever a time when I needed a text message of support it’s now—text...

Beautiful warm day with low winds
Had a pretty amazing day today—90km, lots of sun, warm enough to just be in a jersey and beautiful blue skies.

Philippe, Philippe, Philippe...
This morning before we set out on our ride we were told to be on our best behavior when we arrived in Germany because there would be lots of media there. Well, Phillipe, who only speaks French, took that message really serious.

An Amazing Dinner From Noma
Dinner tonight was from Noma— a two Michelin star restaurant run by chef René Redzepi in Copenhagen, Denmark. The name is an acronym of the two Danish words “nordisk” (Nordic) and “mad” (food), and the restaurant is known for its reinvention and interpretation of the Nordic Cuisine. In both 2010 and 2011, it was ranked as the Best Restaurant in the World by...

Windmills = Wind
They look great in pictures but the wind that keeps them spinning is no fun at all.

More Sun, Less Wind
The first two days of the ride were pretty brutal—wind, rain, cold temperatures and more wind and rain. Day three was pretty spectacular though. I’ve seen some amazing views but these fields made up of yellow flowers have been the most breathtaking for me.

Slight Change of Plans
The train from Berlin to Copenhagen would of taken 12-hours with six different transfers because they don’t allow bikes on the faster cross country trains. On Thursday evening we decided to skip our bikes in Berlin and take the first flight out of Berlin to Copenhagen—one easyJet flight later we went straight to the hotel to research bike shop locations. After shop #6 I finally found...

Patrick Blanc's Vertical Garden at the Quai Branly...
So ever since I saw the vertical garden at Pizzeria Mozza I’ve really been in to the idea of living green walls that are covered in vegetation. For starters, vertical gardens look really amazing but they also open up urban gardening opportunities for families that don’t have fresh foods readily available in their communities. That’s really exciting to me. The garden pictured...

El Anatsui at Centre Pompidou
El Anatsui’s “Sasa” is one the largest pieces at the Centre Pompidou. Anatsui uses recycled materials to produce his work—“Sasa” is made entirely of bottle caps that are fastened together with copper wire.   Does it look like a royal tapestry to you? It could be, according to piece’s description the recycled beer-bottle tops hint at the relations...

MONUMENTA Anish Kapoor
Anish Kapoor creates work that reflects a world that is larger than life. His work is always grand—huge works that give me an intense feeling of curiosity that I only felt when I was really young. The photos are from his show at MONUMENTA, a show organized by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.  Each year MONUMENTA invites a contemporary artist to appropriate the...

City Riding
I rode in the city for about two hours today! By the end of the day my hands were locking up because I was gripping on to the brakes so tightly. Roundabouts are terrifying. TERRIFYING.

This Little Machine
My cycling computer goes everywhere with me. It has a GPS system that records every movement I make, the elevation I climb, speeds and the number of revolutions I spin with my pedals.  I also wear a heart rate monitor that measures my heart rate and calories burned. For starters, I love information and infographics but having all this data really makes a tremendous difference with training. On...

My Two Loves: Coco and Celeste
I’m going to start updating this blog more often now. It’ll mostly be bike related for the next few months. I’ll start by introducing you to my two loves. First we have Coco. She’s my pride and joy and was built just for me. I picked every single component on this bike and she’s traveled thousands of miles with me. Next we have Celeste. She’s my fancy...
