These nice gentleman welcomed us in to 120km away from Berlin! We got a nice welcome in to Fürstenberg

We’re close to Berlin and there is magic in the air

130 km to Berlin!
Toughest day was definitely today. People are getting tired, going through areas with mosquitoes and ticks, can’t eat vegetables and so I’m left with lots of bread, and sun is heating things up.
Several people couldnt finish the ride and had to be picked up and shuttled to the hostel tonight. If there was ever a time when I needed a text message of support it’s now—text me all you want! Tomorrow will probably be a 12-14 hour day.

Beautiful warm day with low winds
Had a pretty amazing day today—90km, lots of sun, warm enough to just be in a jersey and beautiful blue skies.

Philippe, Philippe, Philippe…
This morning before we set out on our ride we were told to be on our best behavior when we arrived in Germany because there would be lots of media there. Well, Phillipe, who only speaks French, took that message really serious.

Made it to Germany! Arrived in a town called Rostock complete with a mayor’s welcome, a police escort and they even closed down a tunnel for us!

Day 5 — 52° and windy
It’s 52° this morning and we’re expecting rain. :(
We do however enter Germany today! With a police escort and the mayor of the city we ride in to is coming out to meet us.
