This morning before we set out on our ride we were told to be on our best behavior when we arrived in Germany because there would be lots of media there. Well, Phillipe, who only speaks French, took that message really serious.

Made it to Germany! Arrived in a town called Rostock complete with a mayor’s welcome, a police escort and they even closed down a tunnel for us!

Day 5 — 52° and windy
It’s 52° this morning and we’re expecting rain. :(
We do however enter Germany today! With a police escort and the mayor of the city we ride in to is coming out to meet us.

An Amazing Dinner From Noma
Dinner tonight was from Noma— a two Michelin star restaurant run by chef René Redzepi in Copenhagen, Denmark. The name is an acronym of the two Danish words “nordisk” (Nordic) and “mad” (food), and the restaurant is known for its reinvention and interpretation of the Nordic Cuisine. In both 2010 and 2011, it was ranked as the Best Restaurant in the World by Restaurant Magazine.

More Sun, Less Wind
The first two days of the ride were pretty brutal—wind, rain, cold temperatures and more wind and rain. Day three was pretty spectacular though. I’ve seen some amazing views but these fields made up of yellow flowers have been the most breathtaking for me.

Slight Change of Plans
The train from Berlin to Copenhagen would of taken 12-hours with six different transfers because they don’t allow bikes on the faster cross country trains. On Thursday evening we decided to skip our bikes in Berlin and take the first flight out of Berlin to Copenhagen—one easyJet flight later we went straight to the hotel to research bike shop locations.
After shop #6 I finally found a bike that I can ride for the next 10 days.
